Haunted Canada: Gibraltar Point Lighthouse 1 Oz Fine Silver Coin Canada 2026

The 2026 Haunted Canada: Haunted Beacon Silver Coin brings one of Toronto’s oldest and most enduring ghost stories to life, transforming the mysterious legend of Gibraltar Point Lighthouse into an eerie, interactive collectible from the Royal Canadian Mint.

Built in 1808 on the Toronto Islands, Gibraltar Point Lighthouse is the oldest surviving lighthouse on the Great Lakes and the second oldest in Canada. Its first keeper, John Paul Radelmüller, maintained the beacon through violent storms and the turbulent years of the War of 1812—until his unexplained disappearance in January 1815 became the foundation of a centuries-old legend.

Stories claim Radelmüller met a violent end and that his spirit never left the lighthouse. Over the generations, visitors have reported unexplained footsteps, mysterious lights, and sightings of a shadowy figure near the historic stone tower.

The coin captures this haunting tale in a dramatic rectangular, portrait-oriented design, perfectly suited to the towering lighthouse scene. But its most chilling secret is revealed only in darkness: shine the included black-light flashlight across the reverse and a ghostly silhouette emerges, transforming the historic scene into a supernatural encounter.

Following the 2025 Haunted Canada: Lady in White release, Haunted Beacon continues the series by exploring the darker side of Canadian history, where documented places and local folklore come together in an imaginative numismatic experience.

Presented in official Royal Canadian Mint packaging with a serialized certificate and black-light flashlight, this atmospheric release is an intriguing addition for collectors of Canadian history, paranormal stories, and innovative coin designs.
